Established in 1986, Spanish In Action pioneered bilingual education in Los Angeles for children aged 1 to 10. Our dynamic approach cultivates a love for learning Spanish through creative tools, a nurturing environment, and a comprehensive curriculum.

At Spanish in Action, our immersive program creates a multi-dimensional and interactive learning environment, fostering joyful and inspiring Spanish learning.

Our original songs, created in collaboration with Disney and Nickelodeon artists, serve as powerful educational tools, leveraging the proven impact of music on long-term retention in young learners. Custom-designed activity books reinforce each lesson while our experienced native teachers, each with 20+ years of expertise, plan engaging lessons and ensure an authentic Spanish accent. Employing a Montessori-inspired philosophy, we emphasize practical vocabulary and reinforce lessons through diverse activities.

Our Director

Maria P. Lastra, Founder and Director, has spent over three decades igniting a passion for Spanish language learning in young students. Her innovative lessons and immersive approach to teaching a language provide a fun and comprehensive educational experience.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Maria observed a lack of fun and engaging language programs upon moving to the U.S. in 1986, inspiring her to pioneer the Spanish in Action™ program.

Maria's dedication has impacted over 8,000 students, establishing her as a seasoned language educator in the USA.
